Project: “Jesus” Christmas Poster

Year: 2025

Reach: 1+ M

Overview:
This poster explores the full narrative arc of Jesus’ life in a single, contemplative composition. The central “Jesus” text is intentionally subdued, inviting viewers to move closer and discover the story rather than receiving it all at once. The aim was to create a piece that rewards curiosity and quiet reflection, rather than relying on overt seasonal clichés.

Design Objectives:
The brief was to design a Christmas-focused poster that felt both familiar and fresh, rooted in Christian theology but visually engaging for a broad, modern audience. Rather than defaulting to traditional Christmas tree imagery, the goal was to embed key moments of Jesus’ life into a cohesive visual language that could be appreciated at a glance and unpacked on closer inspection.

Creative Approach:
The design uses a limited palette of Christmas colours to ground the piece in the season, while keeping the overall tone calm and reverent rather than overly festive. Palm leaves form the backdrop, providing a rich textural layer that doubles as a narrative element, alluding to Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem and acting as an alternative to the standard Christmas tree motif. Within this framework, a sequence of symbolic elements traces the story: the manger birth, a healing hand representing his ministry, the phrase “The Word become flesh,” the cross as a symbol of sacrificial death, and the tomb, all working together to communicate incarnation, ministry, sacrifice, and resurrection. Each element is treated with restraint so that the design reads as a unified artwork first, with its theological depth revealed gradually as viewers engage more closely.
